ASSEMBLING A CLOSET DREAM TEAM
No matter the size of your closet or the stage of your renovation project, there are a few specific roles we see time and again that are integral to a successful closet! Today, I want to break down a few of the major roles we see in high-end homes, and how they work together to ensure a smooth renovation. Many homeowners are overwhelmed at the idea of a major renovation, especially if you’re building your forever home. It’s critical to have the right team in place to make the project go smoothly, and there are a few specific to the closet that can really help bring your dressing room dreams to life!
DESIGNER
This is where we come in! It’s so important to have a designer to bring your ideas to life. Often, homeowners might consider cutting corners to save costs by letting contractors make decisions on their behalf, but in the end, finding a designer who meets your needs and understands your lifestyle will aways result in a more considered and creative finished product. Designers often have niche areas of expertise, which is also so important to consider in highly functional areas of the home, like kitchens, baths, and closets! A designer who specializes in these spaces will have a deeper understanding when it comes to maximizing your space, and meeting your needs.
CONSULTANTS
There are so many consultants to consider bringing into a project, in any space of your home! These are professionals who specialize in niche areas of design or construction, who can offer their expertise as needed to improve the overall quality and synergy of your design. A few we see often in our clients’ homes include A/V consultants, home security, lighting, landscape, and smart home automation.
ESTATE MANAGER
This is a role you might not already be familiar with, but we see more often than not in high end homes! An estate manager is a full-time professional that many clients employ to ensure the smooth operation of their homes and personal lives, typically including secondary homes where they may not be physically present all the time. The estate manager will handle the logistics of any repairs or renovations that need to happen in the home, including contracts and scheduling, and act on the homeowners behalf. This person serves as a liaison who can keep the project moving when the client isn’t directly available, so delays are kept at a minimum.
ORGANIZER
The organizer is a great resource when it comes to creating a functional closet! While the designer will create a space to maximize functionality and ensure your needs are met, a professional organizer is critical to help equip homeowners or housekeepers to employ the proper tools to keep everything in order. They will often help in the process of purging unused items, and encourage systems of organization that are tailored to your own lifestyle. All this is to ensure that your closet looks stays looking its best!
STYLIST
A personal stylist is a great resource to many clients as well! If you’re someone who shops a lot, or has a busy professional life that makes styling and packing new looks a chore, a stylist can really simplify this process. Your stylist will present you with pieces that can complement your personal wardrobe and help you to curate looks for each season and every occasion! This is also a great resource for keeping a pulse on current trends, and they can help you decide when it’s time to tailor, toss, or donate pieces you aren’t wearing.
