WALLPAPER IN THE CLOSET
We’re always looking for ways to add detail and visual interest to closets of all shapes and sizes! One big impact upgrade you can make in your own dressing room is the addition of wallpaper. It’s a cost-effective way to completely transform the look of your space, and there are so many beautiful options to add texture and style to an otherwise simple space. Here, I want to share a few of our favorite ways to work with wallpaper in a dressing room!
WALLS
Perhaps the most obvious choice for wallpaper is to cover any blank exposed walls in your closet! This is a great way to add all-over color or subtle texture without the added cost of paneling the entire closet with millwork. It’s also a great option as it can be easily changed later as your tastes evolve over time. This is also great in spaces with a more modern aesthetic, like floating shelves, wall hooks, or any kind of closet where you don’t have traditional cabinetry covering your walls.
CEILING
Another great way to add visual interest in a closet is with wallpaper on the ceiling! I love this, as it instantly draws the eye up, making your closet feel taller. This is a great trick to make a smaller space feel more high end and custom. I particularly love a large patterned paper on the ceiling, to play on the scale of the room and make the closet feel more interesting.
CABINET INTERIORS
If you’re looking for a little bit of a wow factor, wallpaper inside your closet cabinets can be a fun way to incorporate color. Lots of clients like this in closets where they have doors, so as to create a moment of surprise. It’s a fun way to add visual interest without an all-over impact, just seeing little glimpses of the wallpaper behind your clothes.
DOOR AND DRAWER FACES
Finally, you can wallpaper your doors and drawers for an incredibly custom finished look! I love this in more traditional closets, with heavy mouldings and drawer profiles. It’s a fun way to add dimensions and tie together other materials in the space, by incorporating colors from fabrics in the room or shimmery metallic finishes!
