DESIGNING A DESERT OASIS

This week I want to share a very special project! As a designer, it’s always an undertaking to make decisions when it comes to your own space, and this Palm Springs vacation rental has been no exception. When I found it, the house had undergone a beautiful renovation, and I knew it would be the perfect property to inject a few designer details to really elevate the vacation experience, and offer a retreat for visitors to return year after year! Here are a few of my favorite touches that have made the Junipero desert oasis a reality!

ACCESSORIES - LULU + GEORGIA

These accessories add so much personality, and help the house feel like a home! I wanted guests to feel they’ve stepped into a livable space, with curated pieces that complement the overall style of the home. These pieces from Lulu and Georgia add so much visual interest against the minimal lines of the house, and I couldn’t be happier!

ARTWORK - PAUL MILINKSI

Art is an escape, and these dreamscapes by Paul Milinski are some of my personal favorite pieces! I loved the idea of using them to inject a little color in the dining space, and feel that they really transport you to another place, which is my goal for the vacation home!

TOILETRIES - OUAI

Toiletry products are a crucial part of any luxury stay, and with a rental home, providing the right products will go such a long way to giving guests an elevated experience! Jen Atkin’s line of Ouai products were the obvious choice. And the minimal presentation and design means the products look amazing — like part of the decor.

VITAMINS + SUPPLEMENTS - CABINET

When stepping into a home away from home, it’s important that all the necessities are stocked! You want to feel your host has thought of everything, and for me this includes daily vitamins and supplements like sleep aids. The desert climate can take a toll on many, and I want to make sure my guests have everything they need to fight allergies in the dry Palm Springs air! Cabinet has created a clever system to cover all the basic needs, and their colorful packaging is perfect for stocking every medicine cabinet.

LIVING ROOM FURNITURE - CB2

When sourcing pieces for the main living spaces, I wanted furnishings that would feel durable and comfortable for entertaining, while complementing the other vintage pieces in the home and the overall architectural character! CB2 was an invaluable resource for fun, understated furniture pieces that didn’t feel too precious for a rental. The living spaces are elevated and neutral, with lots of texture and personality that make for the perfect long-term stay.

RUGS - MODERN RUGS LA

The right rug can really transform a room, and I was so happy to incorporate a few beautiful finds from Modern Rugs LA in the main living spaces and master bedroom! I opted for oversized rugs, to really fill the spaces and make the otherwise modern decor feel more inviting for guests.
