STONE CLOSET STYLING

Lately, I’ve been fantasizing about playing around with marble and stone elements in the design of a closet! Often, in our clients’ homes, the use of stone is pretty limited to bureau surfaces, waterfall islands, or maybe an occasional wall slab or floating shelf. However, I am dreaming of the day we are asked to design an all-stone closet (think YSL)! Today, to get you inspired and in the mood of this marble fantasy, I am rounding up a few of my favorite marble accessories for the closet, that will elevate any space and bring a sophisticated modern personality to your home!

Light Fixtures

Lighting is so important, functionally, in a closet! However, that isn’t to say that it can’t be a stylistic choice as well! Marble maybe isn’t the most conventional option you think of when it comes to pendants and sconces, but a carved stone fixture is a fun way to make a statement, and really dress up the overall look of your space!

Vases

I always like to keep fresh flowers in the closet, making it feel more inviting and like a livable part of the home — enter the marble vase! Consider dressing up a bureau, island, or vanity with a playful pair of shapes and materials! I especially love finding a vase that mixes materials like brass or nickel for a more elevated and eclectic look.

Trays

A catch-all tray is a closet essential. We all need a place to land at the end of the day, and a stylish spot to toss keys, wallet, and jewelry where they are easily accessible! I think this is a great little accessory for a bureau top, and can have so much personality — from something organic and delicate in form, to a more traditional utilitarian rectangle tray in a vibrantly veined species of stone!

Side Tables

Side tables are becoming ever increasingly a closet essential — with clients looking to entertain or hang out in their spaces, a marble side table is a great complement to a seating area where you can play with shapes and colorful materials! I love the look of something cantilevered in stone, playing with the look of weightlessness, but a more traditional pedestal side table can also be very chic and feminine!

More Marble Favorites

Marble styling can make its way into so many parts of the design! From accessories that serve purely formal purposes, to the most functional item in the closet — hangers! I love the idea of incorporating this material in unexpected ways, and subtler doses like jewelry boxes, drawer pulls, or even wall-mounted hooks!
