BABY'S FIRST CLOSET

Not only do clients come to us looking for oversized dream closets and dressing rooms!… Sometimes the most special designs happen in the smallest of spaces. Tiny clothes and shoes call for extra special attention to detail. That’s right, we’re talking nursery closets today! Whether you’re a parent of a newborn or not, we can all agree closets full of tiny shoes are extra adorable! What you might not realize is the attention that goes into these closets, ensuring they can grow with your child, and are flexible enough to accommodate clothes for years to come — from toddler to teenage years!

HANGING

Designing for a growing baby comes with a whole new set of challenges! I always like to make the most of the space, and with smaller clothes, this often means incorporating triple hanging! In order to maintain flexibility, and keep the closet functional for years to come, I suggest having the middle rod be adjustable / removable so you can accommodate larger clothes as your child grows.

SHOES / ACCESSORIES

I like to incorporate functional elements that will empower your child to dress him/herself from an early age! For this reason, I often opt to incorporate pull-out shelves close to the floor, where select pieces and shoes can be easily accessed by your little one! These are great, as they can be transitioned for folded garments and accessories as your child grows.

STAGING / CHANGING

No nursery is complete without a place to dress and change your baby! Much like in our grown-up closets, I recommend having a place to stage your baby’s looks — this will make the morning routine much easier. I also like to outfit changing tables with custom storage for towels, baby products, and more!

TOYS

Often, nursery closets need to store more than clothing! If your kiddo has a toy collection to contend with, the closet should have ample shelving and baskets for keeping things tucked away! Not only is this functional for keeping the nursery tidy, but makes for adorable decor on display in the closet! I also like to add wall hooks for added functionality, which also double as a fun place to play dress-up!

DECORATIVE ACCENTS

No matter the size of the closet, I like to dress up every space with some decorative touches! In a nursery, this is a great place to liven up the design with elements that can be easily swapped later. For instance, pick a more playful knob or decorative hook to deck out the room! A few colorful accents and sparkly accessories will make for a whimsical space your child will be sure to enjoy!
