VON MILLER - CLOSET TOUR
This Super Bowl-winning Denver Broncos defensive star has a closet as big as his personality! It was such an honor to get to design Von Miller’s dream space, and now we’re getting a behind-the-scenes look at all his favorite pieces. Needless to say, you can fit quite a collection in a 2,000-sf closet, and Von has a little bit of everything — from custom embellished suiting and furs to vintage band tees and a Stetson hat collection! Von estimates the current closet holds ~12,000 pieces total, including a vast collection of sneakers and shoes!
The ultimate master closet man-cave, Von’s closet is a playful blend of modern streetwear and over-the-top custom pieces, luxury goods, and vintage finds. The closet is divided into separate aisles, like you might find in a department store, dividing up the categories of clothing. One area consists of suiting, jackets, and coats. On the far opposite end, he stores his sneakers, tees, and jeans. The center aisle, which Von admits is the most visited, is where he stores his sweats, shorts, and hoodies! Each aisle is flanked with a backlit boutique sunglass display.
With a closet this big, there is no shortage of creature comforts, and we wanted to ensure Von wouldn’t ever need to leave! We incorporated a large display island, charging stations, and a raised 3-way tailoring mirror so he can get suited up for a Super Bowl or Grammy night without leaving home.
von’s custom grammy’s suit is a favorite statement piece in his collection. dress shoes are stored on pull-out shelves, and a full-length tailoring mirror makes last-minute fittings possible.
Like a true Texan, Von takes serious pride in his collection of Stetson cowboy hats! The star footballer also offers up a pro-tip for storing these hats, and we’re all ears. According to Von, it’s best that these hats be stored upside down, to avoid the toll of gravity flattening the lines of the hat over time on a shelf — a bit of advice Von received from an old cowboy himself!
Perhaps Von’s most fitting and flavorful collection is the astounding assortment of glasses! Many he says are entirely custom, or reworked vintage frames which he’s converted from shades to specs. Von explains that he’s always worn prescription glasses, and realized they were a great way to reflect his personality and pull together any look! (He also has a charity, Von’s Vision, which provides prescription glasses, contacts, and eye exams to children in need!)
Finally, Von gives us a glimpse at his extensive handbag collection. He points out the Dior saddle bag as his personal favorite, of which he has several. He says he likes what it represents — functionality, versatility — and that it holds some Texan character in its distinctive saddle shape! This is the way he likes to think of his personal style. He doesn’t create an outfit around a single accessory, like a bag, but rather chooses the pieces he feels are most functional for any occasion. We couldn’t agree more.
