GAME DAY GLAM
Who’s gearing for the big game this Sunday? I’m looking forward to cheering on the San Francisco 49ers! I called the Bay Area home for many years, and growing up in Hawaii, you were either a Raiders or 49ers fan and I chose the latter because of Joe Montana and Steve Young. Not to mention the Niners have the first ever female NFL coach, Katie Sowers, an assistant offensive coordinator. Yes to women breaking down barriers!
But, if football isn’t your thing and you’d rather reimagine your closet than watch a pigskin being passed down a field, I’ve put together some champion-worthy inspiration...with a twist! Since both the San Francisco 49ers and their opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs, have the same team colors -- red and gold -- the inspiration is themed accordingly!
Over the years, I’ve designed several dressing rooms that incorporate red, gold or both. To kick things off, in Olivia Culpo’s closet I accessorized with her favorite red pieces and gold accents, like storage baskets and display boxes, throughout. Meanwhile, I finished Jaime King’s closet in a red-stained wood, topped off with gold hardware and deco accents. And, I couldn’t forget the Gucci-inspired staging display I created for another client that features red and gold wardrobe pieces, hung on a gold hang bar. No design fumbles here!
If you’re looking for some subtle ways to score a style touchdown incorporating red and/or gold into your space, there are so many fun options! To tackle a bigger space, opt for a printed wallpaper or patterned rug. Need to refresh you lighting and don’t want to splurge on a chandelier? Try a sophisticated table lamp or modern floor lamp. Changing up your home’s seating can totally revamp a space -- this chic bench is equally regal and modern. Other ways to get in the red and gold game are with a modern mirror, statement tray, beautiful coffee table book, deco-inspired baskets and charming display boxes.
Red and gold drawing a personal foul flag for you? You can always scope out Khloé Kardashian’s fitness closet for some winning workout inspo!
