DIVING INTO THE OSCAR GREENROOM

The Oscars always deliver some major fashion moments (Charlize in Dior, Constance in Atelier Versace, Julia in Elie Saab in the color of the night -- pink!, and Regina in Oscar de la Renta were a few of my personal favorites this year); but, I was especially inspired by this year’s Academy Awards’ green room.  The space was designed by Rolex, which has been imagining the ever-important room since 2016. Each year, the brand ideates a new theme, bringing it to life through design. This year, the luxury timepiece masters dove deep into the sea to create a vision around their Perpetual Planet campaign and honor their Oyster Perpetual Submariner collection.

Backstage, celebs were greeted by a bronzed door shaped like a hatch, which opened into a submarine-like vessel. Portholes featuring backlit images of marine life further set the sea-ne. The color palette and furniture also embraced the theme, with vibrant oceanic blue tones, wave and starfish-shaped seating, and coral-shaped laser cut-outs filling the room.

Now that nautical is on my mind, I’m starting to think about some of the spring pieces I can put on my warm-weather wish list, like these:
