With the holiday season upon us, I’m getting in the spirit with cozy and current trends that are equally festive and cold-weather approved. Faux fur, plaids and pearls embrace the merriment of this time of year and work flawlessly in my wardrobe, as well as the home. Here are a few of my favorite of-the-moment pieces.
Festive Faux Fur
Faux fur is the real deal! As more and more brands replace animal furs and hides with vegan alternatives, and with California’s ban on fur purchases, we’re seeing so many great iterations -- from bold coats to pleather pants to Gucci’s timeless slippers. This is also an ideal time of year to bring faux fur into the home! Introduce a snugly, yet stylish throw blanket, glam chair or versatile rug.
Playful Plaids
A seasonal staple, plaid, checks and tartan always make a big appearance this time of year. When it comes to plaid pieces, there’s tons of opportunity to have some fun. Try a wide-leg pant, tailored blazer or even a haute handbag. Integrating plaid into your home doesn’t necessarily have to feel like you’re recreating a mountain chalet! Change up your aesthetic with a muted throw pillow, textured sheets or a simple plaid votive...all sure to spread chic holiday cheer!
Pretty Pearls
The holidays mean dressing up! That doesn’t mean donning your grandmother’s pearls, necessarily; this season's pearls go well beyond stud earrings and strands around the neck. Opt for opulence with a swanky sweater, glitzy purse or tough-meets-feminine combat boots. Pearl isn’t a common home theme, but there are some sophisticated ways to try it -- from a demure mirror to a vibrant tray to elegant placemats.
