When I think about the “most wonderful time of the year” I think about aesthetics, naturally. The holidays bring out such unique and personal decor. So, I thought it would be fun to take a closer look at some of the most swoon-worthy movie homes for some iconic gift guide inspiration.
Home Alone
While the McCallisters’ design perspective may not be an obvious choice of inspiration, their traditional and spirited style endures. Think red and walnut, everything! I recall them having a collection of red pans in the kitchen, which makes a great gift for culinary enthusiasts. The McCallisters’ fireplace features brass bird accents, a nice option for collectors of pretty things. Or, go full on festive with a traditional nutcracker (the McCallisters had several of them) or a santa-approved floral arrangement (add a note that reads: "Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal" for a touch of Kevin).

Few movie homes can compete with Erica Barry’s pristine Hamptons house. Its crisp, white, modern and coastal sensibility is truly timeless. There’s not a more charming movie house than the one Amanda finds herself impulsively escaping to in the English countryside in The Holiday.
