DESIGN TRENDS TO BE THANKFUL FOR

I can’t believe it, but Thanksgiving 2019 is here.

To help get into the holiday spirit, I thought I’d check in with some of my design professional peers and see what 2019 trends they’re most thankful for. I’ll kick things off!

I am most thankful for the resurgence of brass, as I revealed in my own dressing room earlier this year. It’s a material that can be playful or sophisticated, timeless and trendy, all depending on the ways you choose to intermix with your own personal style.

In the world of fashion trends, I have really enjoyed midi dresses—they’re a refreshing length and look effortlessly chic whether worn with pumps or tall boots!

“I’m thankful that menswear is starting to get revealing. I have a Comme de Garcon button down with a patch cutout that proudly puts my left nipple on display and another one of their sweaters with two cutouts for under boob.  Both are equal parts disarming and delightful, and people seem to really get a kick out of them. I also have an Our Legacy sheer organza button down shirt that is so fun to wear with nothing underneath.  In design, I’m thankful to see a return to playfulness and risk taking. I think this is a response to the ‘safe’ California-rustic brown and white phase that’s been trending in the past seven years or so.  Finally, people back to using color and odd-ball romanticism!”
