PARIS FASHION WEEK SS20 TRENDS
A runway crasher at Chanel, a finale to start the Marc Jacobs show and a model becoming a viral sensation at Maison Margiela, it was quite an exciting month of fashion. Now that the shows are in the rear view mirror, it’s time to get excited about what we saw on the runways. I’ve sifted through the NYC, London, Milan and Paris S/S ‘20 shows, found my five favorite trends of the season and am sharing the best ways to integrate them into the home.
Color Blocking
Chunky blocks of colors were a common theme on catwalks -- from Preen to Parbal Gurung -- showing a variety of eye-catching way to mix and match color. Color blocking is easily translatable to the home: try an angular rug, geometric throw pillow or mod mirror!
Polka Dots
S/S ‘20 runways were peppered with polka dots! While some took a traditional approach to the retro print like Marc Jacobs’ blouse and pant combo, others opted for nuanced iterations like Dries Van Noten’s trench coat. The playful print can add dimension and whimsy to the home -- try a storage container in the kitchen or painting in the vanity.
Shades of Green
Green -- lime, pistachio and neon, especially -- is without question fashion’s haute hue for spring. Valentino, Alice & Olivia, and Ulla Johnson were just a few of the designers making other colors green with envy. Green has a lot of positive representations, including life, growth and ambition, so it’s a great color to bring into the home. Go big with a bold table or statement chair, or more subtle with a cool lamp.
