ONE-STOP DESIGN SHOPS
“These LA shops are just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside”
No question about it, Los Angeles has become an international design destination and I couldn’t be prouder to live and work here. Not only are there fantastic, unique finds throughout the city; the buildings in which these gems are housed are also pretty special. From airy galleries to museum-like chateaus to architectural multi-purpose spaces, LA’s stores allow shoppers find great additions to the home, while also inspiring them through their own design.
Here are a few of the shops around town that continually fuel my design dreams:
Alchemy Works -- Situated in a gallery-style space, this Arts District outpost offers curated coastal goods like whimsical ceramics, ocean-inspired artwork and a collection of men’s and women’s clothes and accessories that give new meaning to “California cool.”
Consort Design -- From the venerable duo behind the popular design firm, the Consort store is a feast for the eyes. The shoppable showroom along “gallery row” is broken up into different rooms, similar to a home. Offering playful-yet-sophisticated goods like furniture, accessories, art and housewares, the assortment -- and the space in which they’re house -- deliver a refreshing edge.
Croft House -- A chic showroom, this design destination houses incredible handcrafted furnishings like rustic bookcases, reclaimed wood coffee tables, industrial steel end tables and a selection of home essentials like linens, ceramics and housewares.
Garde -- This airy, minimalist shop with a European sensibility is a fixture among designers with discerning taste. Stocked with worldly, eclectic merchandise, each piece -- from vases to baskets to candlesticks -- tells its own story.
Leclaireur -- Situated in a stunning château-like building, this relatively new WeHo shop that hails from Paris provides a stylish selection of European-sourced furniture, paintings and objects. Don’t miss the fun Fornasetti products!
Mansur Gavriel -- Pretty in Millennial pink, this charming indoor-outdoor shop embraces LA’s al fresco lifestyle. There’s a beautiful connection between architecture, landscape and fashion in this 5,000 square foot space that has a garden, pond and courtyard. Inside, a collection of ready-to-wear crafted from vintage Italian fabrics sits alongside the brand’s signature leather bags and home goods like Italian ceramics and Murano glass.
Obsolete -- An antique shop-meets-art gallery, this museum-like boutique specializes in one-of-a kind items from furniture to art to decorative objects. Appealing to design-lovers’ many curiosities, this elevated emporium is a treasure trove of finds and inspiration.
Una Malan -- Furnishings, lighting, textiles and accessories abound at this atelier showroom along La Cienega Design Quater’s historic courtyards. The luxe and bespoke products are some of the most beloved among the design community, and the beautiful space is just extra eye candy.
