SWEAT IN STYLE
Like most Angelenos, I love a good sweat session.
One of the best things about living in Los Angeles among the fiercely fit is that there is no shortage of innovative exercise classes to raise your heart rate, test your physical and mental strength, and challenge your athletic abilities. Whether you enjoy running, spinning, boxing, circuit training, pilates, yoga or dancing there’s a workout for every kind of exercise enthusiast.
Here are my favorite workouts around Los Angeles:
Barry's Bootcamp
This is my go-to workout when I’m looking to get my heart-pumping and burn some serious calories.

Not your typical pilates class, this shake-inducing workout blends pilates moves with cardio on a supped-up reformer machine. Bring a towel...you’ll need it!

PLAYLIST Yoga
A modern, music-based approach to yoga, this class blends breath, strength, flexibility and endurance. The best part? I get to discover new hits and rock out to my favorite tunes while working on my down dog.

Rise Nation
When I don’t have a ton of time for a workout, I head to this climb-simulated class that only lasts 30 minutes, but makes me feel like I summited a fourteener.

Sandbox Fitness
Regrettably, I can’t make it to the beach for a wokrout as much as I’d like. But luckily, this class brings the beach to me! This studio offers a variety of innovative and high intensity group classes in a special silica free sand setting, but I recommend the Surfset ® class if you want to make waves in your workout routine.

This stylish studio’s mission is to deliver “great music, awesome instructors, cool fashion, friendly staff, beautiful and clean facilities” and that says it all.

This high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout was designed by a chiropractor and combines a training technique that alternates short, intense bursts of exercise with brief periods of rest to maximize calorie burn. The class flies by with a mix of rowing, running and floor work that is sure to leave you sore.
